The Newt in Somerset
Deep in the historic soul of Somerset’s cyder country, The Newt in Somerset honors a legacy of craftsmanship and terroir. Situated in an environment perfectly suited for pomology, the estate manages a sprawling 65-acre orchard - home to 3,000 tree's and 70 distinct varieties. For The Newt, cyder is more than a drink, it is a meticulous pursuit of excellence. Each harvest is pressed and moved to the estate’s cellar for cold fermentation. Over a six-month period, the liquid is gently racked from its sediment, allowing the cyder to slowly develop its signature refined complexity.
The Newt purposefully adopts the 'cyder' spelling with a 'y' as a tribute to ancient West Country traditions. Historically, this served as a seal of excellence, differentiating the elite first pressing from the rest.
